About Me

Hi, my name is Bronagh and I am a Teacher. To say I am a teacher is a very broad term, I am a leader, facilitator, councillor, regulator and many more things. I have a passion for what I do and I feel this allows me to excel in my field. I love to watch as I alter students’ lives, through engagement and the formation of a love of learning.
I am currently a teacher in a wide field of creative and practical subjects; art, textiles, photography and food technology. In my classroom students are given the guidance required to allow them to explore and develop their skills with the prompts and supports required by the individual. Through delivery of lessons tailored to all learning styles all are able to access the education provided within the classroom.
In the delivery of lessons, I strive to have all students actively engaged with the learning going on around them, there is always a flicker of interest or curiosity that can be taped into to develop an outcome that appeals to every type of student. The goal I have for myself is to be a teacher that can inspire even the most disinterested student to find something they love or can simply be proud of within my subjects. I aim to achieve this through hard work and continual analysis and development of my own teaching methods and styles.
When teaching I provide a safe learning environment where students can feel comfortable and at ease. I am an approachable person which helps students ask for support or help when they need it. Overall, I feel my enthusiasm and flare for teaching along with my hard working ethos has enabled me to become the outstanding teacher that I am today.

Creativity

Why is what I teach important? As a teacher in the arts I am regularly asked “what will my child achieve by taking your subject?” Arts subjects often have the stigmatism of being unimportant, or not useful when compared with academic subjects. But the answer is always basic, “simply look around you.” What I teach sustains life, I teach students to made and design the clothes you wear, to cook the food you eat and to design the furniture you sit at. I teach the life skills that allow my students to grow up and repair their clothes and to feed themselves. I provide the knowledge and skill that allows my students to become the artists that design the packaging for your food, the art on your walls and the designs for the buildings you live and work in. Overall, my job provides students with the knowledge they need to put a spark and colour into our world!
