Students were working on an Aliens project. This began with research into different animals exploring their form, features and textures. Students began working with pencil, they explored the same animal from a range of angles including a close up of the eye. These were completed in line, pencil tone and colour pencil.
The third animal study was completed in paint and for their fourth study students could select their most successful media to develop further. Once the research into the four key animals was completed students progressed to merging together a range of animals to design their alien. These were then to be created using paper, modroc, card, air drying clay, wire and paint. Unfortunately due to lock down they were left incomplete.
The final piece of work in this unit combined all the skills explored in the unit. Students created a tonal, colour study in the surrealist style. Students were encouraged to rotate the page to change the floor of the page. This way altered the rules of gravity. Students were also shown to change the scale of objects or place unusual ones in the room to add to the style. The most able students considered direction of light source when adding tone and shadows.
