Following the drawing module, students began to look at graphics. In this unit we explores spacing and design of lettering. Focus was on using parallel lines for letters evenly spaced within uniform boxes. Students then looked at illustrating the meaning of the word through its decoration.
The first part of this project saw students explore a range of different words to practice the new skills.
In the last part of this unit, students took the first letter of their felt tip large word, and placed it in a location. Emphasis was on showing distance and perspective and overlapping and layering elements in the image. Where possible students developed understanding of direction of light and shadows.
After exploring the basics in proportions and tone in portraiture students moved on to a more expressive style of art. Students began by creating photo montages using contrasting angles and scales to begin their cubist self portrait, (images not shown). These were used to create a coulor pencil cubist art work, students were encouraged to be expressive with scale, angels and colour within this piece of work.
