This piece of work is the introduction to the visual elements and natural forms project. The focus is to teach the students how to draw from direct observation along with how to create tone and texture using a pencil.
In this piece of work students look at the work of Georgia O'Keeffe. First the use colour pencils to complete a replication of a piece of her work, they then apply this style to their own photographs.

In this piece of work students have replicated a section of a Cezanne painting. The focus is to develop an understanding of shape, form and tone.
This mixed media piece of work teaches students the importance of composition in a busy piece of patterned art. Students are expected to develop understanding of overlapping and fine detailed pattern work.
The final outcomes of the visual elements and natural form project combines the exploration covered in the previous few weeks. Students draw inspiration from Milhaze, O'Keeffe and Cezanne, they explore use of colour theory within the colour schemes along with focus on what makes a good composition.
Coming into year 7 pupils have began by looking at the basics of art and design. This begins by looking at the visual elements, and allowing pupils to understand how these are represented within art. Pupils proceeded after this to look at Art History, pupils worked in pairs to research an art period which was then presented to rest of the class.
After studying art history year 7 then began to focus on Cubism, they took photographs around Southampton and used these to progress with the project. This lead to a 2D relief piece, where pupils interpreted different aspects from Cubist Artists styles.
