The Autumn term project with year 8 focused on healthy eating and impressionism. Pupils began by exploring the shapes of fruit and vegetables, considering their 3D forms and contour lines. From this point pupils developed understanding of shading to illustrate form. Pupils practiced painting in the impressionist style, and then applied this to a final fruit and vegetable painting.
This spring term project begins looking at figure drawing, with pupils posing for each other in different positions. Pupils are taught how to use a pencil to measure proportions on a figure. This project has then progressed to look at religious renaissance art work, pupils have focused on one figure in the painting and have illustrated them from different angles. This will progress into a 3D project with a group recreating the all aspects of their chosen painting.
